Do deleted files genuinely disappear from your computer?

Ever wonder where files go after we delete them? The answer is simple. They go nowhere. Deleted files are not removed from your computer’s hard drive. Rather the space they require is relabeled as available to be over written. As long as you do not overwrite the file the underlying data is intact and can be undeleted.
I have looked all over my computer keyboard and have yet to find the undelete key. While many programs have an undo feature, there doesn’t seem to be a tool to undelete files. I can tell you now that I need an undelete key. It seems my fingers are always tripping over themselves resulting in copy being cut when I don’t want to and entire files being accidentally deleted.
